Home Sweet Home
In a twinge of serious adulting, I decided to take a leap of faith and do my part for an improved millennial homeownership rate in the United States. It took me the better part of 2016 to find a place that I liked, I could afford, and that no one else outbid me on. No small feat in California’s very tight real estate market it turns out. The home I ended up going with will definitely need some “Tender Loving Care”, but it has great bones and a convenient location.
I hope I’ll get to write a few follow-up posts with more details on the journey that brought me to this point, taking a look at the process, and depict some of the events in the final weeks before closing. In the meantime I’ll try to cope with the anxiety of having mortgaged my finances for the foreseeable future.

After The Shortmarket Club a few days prior I had the opportunity to have dinner at another one of Luke Dale-Roberts’ restaurants. Unfortunately his main spot, Test Kitchen, was closed during my time in Cape Town, otherwise I would have tried to get a spot at lunch or something.
Anyway, The Potluck Club was great and definitely lived up to the hype and my resulting expectations. The food is simply outstanding, every single dish was top notch. Especially the fish tacos were amazing. I could easily see myself eat a whole afternoon’s worth of them without getting full. If you’re ever in Cape Town, make sure to go to both restaurants, it’s still fairly easy to get reservations there!

I’ve recently gotten inspired to go on more hikes and explore. A rewarding investment so far and one that I’m looking forward to expanding soon, with Canada’s beauty on the horizon.
So being in Cape Town for WordCamp, how could I pass up the opportunity to trek up Table Mountain? After taking me to Lion’s Head a few days earlier, Job Thomas was again so nice to take time out of his schedule to show me around, this time even along with his wife Kim, and it was definitely a memorable half day.
